RESTORATION OF THE TEMPLE OF DEMETER

The work has been awarded the 1st prize in the European competition of Europa Nostra 2003 in the category: Archaeological Sites.
The Presentation of this archaeological site consists of the restoration of the archaic temple and the presentation of the Christian churches built in the same the construction of a new museum destined for the architecture and the history of this  site, and visitors’ paths, as also information point and other facilities. The main concept for the Presentation of this archaeological site combines the restoration of the archaic temple with the presentation of the Christian churches built in the same area converting the ancient construction. During the restoration many new observations gave light for the construction and the phases of the ancient buildings.
