RESTORATION OF BAZEOS TOWER

Naxos, Greece

The monastery belongs to the tower-like building complexes, dating from 13th to 18th c. The works aimed to eliminate the deterioration factors through interventions conventional to the history and the spirit of the place, in order to secure the monument’s continuous presence as a point of reference in the memory of the local society.

Since its restoration, the tower has become a major tourist attraction with thousands of visitors each year, who enjoy not only the tower itself but also the magnificent art exhibitions that it houses as well as the beautiful cultural summer festival that gets organised there every year.
